Mistarea arriving at her new home. I
missed her terribly!
We were fortunate to get Mistarea back home
on September 13, 2008
Here she is pictured after her arrival home.
She is a bit rough looking and sore due to apparently being attacked by
donkeys.
Thank you to Carolyn of Hooves
N Hounds for delivering Mistarea safely home to us.

We owned and loved Mistarea's sire, dam &
her Grandma. Here is a beautiful *Turfa mare with lots of potential.
I had reluctantly sent her off to Alberta
on a free lease for a year due to my personal health issues. I was
happy to have her finally return home to us after 4.5 years. It was a stressful
time, as I had plans for training Mistarea for long distance riding &
after having to wait so long for her to be returned, I find I haven't gotten
any younger.
Upon Mistarea's return, I had to postpone plans
of training, etc as she
arrived home from Alberta with
with a swelling on the flat of her jaw. Mistarea had a head
injury when she caught her head between a gate & post soon after her
arrival in Alberta.
She did recover fully, but it seems that she
developed a build up of scar tissue on the outside of her right jaw. This
causes the flat of her jaw to be rounded rather than flat.
We had a thorough check up done on her
face & inside her mouth by a well respected Veterinarian on Dec. 5,
2006.
We finally went ahead with her training as
planned. Though it is a blemish, it does not affect her in any way.
This is a very special mare & her pictures do not do her justice. She has a gorgeous dished face, large, kind eyes & big nostrils, a beautifully shaped neck, nice sloping shoulders & a big, long hip.
Mistarea has an incredible trot & and walks
with a nice long stride. She was bred for her wonderful temperament, intelligence
& heart.
I was enjoying just seeing Mistarea out in
the field with my Miniature Horses. But I found myself feeling guilty,
just keeping her as a pet. Mistarea is gentle and sensible.
She has had 30 days training with Catherine
Meikle. I was thrilled with her progress!
I felt that Mistarea should have a home where
she would get more individual attention. So, I reluctantly let her go to
a new home. I made a big mistake and thankfully, she is back home to stay.

Meikle.
We
may eventually breed Mistarea to a lovely Al Khamsa stallion at Cottonwood
Arabians.
